Opensoft Systems have secured a site wide support contract with multinational protective coatings company, Jotun Paints.

A contract has being agreed between the two parties to provide responsive engineering solutions to Jotun’s production site in Scunthorpe. The main focus of the contract will provide support for their GE Fanuc SCADA & PLC systems.

Jotun’s Engineering Manager John Holliday explains the site’s background: “Our Scunthorpe site is the primary location for our paint mixing process. The production process involves many chemicals, some of which are combustible in nature. It is therefore imperative that we have the necessary control systems to ensure safe production within the plant.

The blending of chemicals within the facility needs to be precise so the support contract will provide a range of services designed around the sites production requirements.  This will facilitate an on-demand connection to site enabling Opensoft’s’ team to assist promptly with any support issues which may occur and development modifications required.

Marc Bedford, Managing Director for Opensoft Systems believes the support contract will grant benefit to both parties.

Bedford comments: “We are very proud to be providing our control engineering services to one of the leading providers of protective paint. Having successfully completed a number of projects for the organisation, we are well placed to align our team with the needs of the plant, this a support contract is the natural step forward.”
